Hospice Services of Lake County (HSLC) purchased the property at 1862 Parallel Drive in Lakeport to become its new headquarters. The existing 5,700-square-foot main building was the former location of the Calvary Baptist Church. The building will be remodeled and expanded to 6,500 square feet to house the administrative and clinical staffs. The plans for the remodel and site improvements were approved by the Lakeport Planning Commission in June.
“We’ve been looking to expand for a number of years because our daily patient load has doubled since 2009”, said HSLC Executive Director Anja Koot. Due to the additional staff required to cover the increased patient load, the organization has outgrown its current 3,300 square feet of office space. It currently rents additional offices for part of its administrative staff in a separate location in Lakeport.
HSLC has committed to using local consultants, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers for this building project and to obtain financing for the project through a local bank. It’s also determined to follow green building procedures and recycle usable materials and debris.
After reviewing all the submitted bids, the HSLC Board of Directors awarded the project’s contract to Mitchell Construction. The project is expected to take six months for completion.
