In this 2-part series, caregivers who care for a person with dementia and other neurocognitive disorders will be given tools to increase their abilities to:
• Understand feelings of denial, guilt and how to handle frustration and the significance of taking time for self-care
• Understand and accommodate challenging dementia-related behaviors
• Understand, communicate and remain “connected” with their family member or client
This free workshop is intended to provide a supportive educational opportunity to help participants increase their understanding of caregiving and to feel less isolated by increasing awareness of resources and widening their support system.
Workshop facilitator, Alexis Gildewell, LCSW is a member of the Geriatric Medicine Clinic in Santa Rosa and is associated with the Redwood Caregivers Resource Center sharing her expertise in teaching classes and facilitating workshops and support groups.
