The gift of a visit to a patient in hospice care is often the highlight of a patient’s day! Such a simple thing as paying a personal visit can mean so much to a person, to their loved ones, to you.
If you have ever thought of volunteering to give the gift of a visit, Hospice Services of Lake County welcomes you and invites you to join other like-minded people in two learning sessions on Saturday, September 15th and 22nd.
Through a series of discussions and exercises, you will learn about the dying process, what patients and their loved ones experience and how to talk with patients and their loved ones. Expect to learn how to handle loss, gain a deeper understanding of the bereavement process and the impact of spiritual care during this time of transition. Discover what an amazing impact volunteers have on people transitioning through this final stage of life’s journey, and the support they bring to the caregivers and loved ones. Hear from seasoned volunteers how their lives have been enriched through visiting hospice patients.
Guest speakers will provide insight on what hospice care is, on the team of professionals who provide that care, and the role of the volunteer as a valuable member of the team.
This training is free of charge. Complimentary luncheon and refreshments will be provided.
